Nifty Ends Above 24,550; Realty Stocks Lead Gains
10-Aug-26   16:30 Hrs IST

Indian equity markets ended marginally higher on Monday as investors digested a fresh round of Q1 FY27 earnings, while remaining cautious amid geopolitical tensions and recent market volatility following the implementation of the Closing Auction Session (CAS) mechanism.

The Sensex gained 43 points (0.06%) to close at 78,542.44, while the Nifty rose 13 points (0.05%) to settle at 24,583.80. Broader markets also edged higher, with mid-cap and small-cap indices posting modest gains.

Investor sentiment remained restrained due to ongoing concerns surrounding the US-Iran conflict, its potential impact on crude oil prices, and the progress of the monsoon. Market participants are now awaiting domestic inflation data later this week for further direction.

Sector Performance

Realty stocks emerged as the top gainers, with the Nifty Realty Index rising 1.34%.

Private banks and media shares also witnessed buying interest.

PSU banks, oil & gas, and pharma stocks ended lower.

Key Movers

Titan Company surged 3.1% after reporting a 63% jump in Q1 FY27 profit.

Oil India advanced 3.0% on strong earnings driven by higher crude production and realizations.

Sky Gold & Diamonds rallied over 11% after reporting a sharp rise in profitability.

Power Mech Projects declined 3.0% following a significant drop in quarterly profit.

Kaynes Technology fell 3.4% despite strong revenue growth, as profits declined year-on-year.

IPO Update

Investor response remained mixed for ongoing IPOs. Technocraft Ventures was the standout, attracting over 3 times subscription, while Dhoot Transmission, Molbio Diagnostics, and Leap India witnessed subdued demand on the opening day.

Global Markets

Asian markets closed higher after weak US jobs data reduced expectations of a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike. However, European markets traded lower as escalating US-Iran tensions and uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz pushed crude oil prices higher. Brent crude remained firm amid concerns over global oil supply disruptions.

Outlook

Markets are likely to remain driven by Q1 earnings announcements, domestic inflation data, crude oil price movements, monsoon developments, and geopolitical developments in the Middle East. While supportive global cues may aid sentiment, elevated uncertainty is expected to keep gains capped in the near term.
