The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) has released import data for vegetable oils (edible & non-edible) for January, 2026. Imports during the month totalled 1,339,375 tons compared to 1,119,893 tons in January., 2025 i.e. up by 20%. This includes 1,311,847 tons of edible oils and 27,528 tons of non-edible oils. In first quarter of the oil year 2025-26(Nov’25-Jan.’26), total vegetable oil imports reached 3,960,102 tons, down by 2% from 4,046,423 tons in the same period last year. Edible oil import in January 2026 marginally declined to 13.12 lakh tons from 13.62 lakh tons in December 2025. Palm Oil import increased in first quarter (Nov’25-Jan’26) to 19.08 lakh tons compared to 16.22 lakh tons in Nov.’24-Jan.’25, up by 18%. The port stock of palm oil as on 1st Feb.,2026 reported at 4.86 lakh tons from 4.53 lakh tons, increased by 33,000 tons from previous months. Crude Soybean Oil import down in first quarter (Nov’25-Jan’26) to 12.03 lakh tons compared to 12.72 lakh tons in Nov.’24-Jan.’25, down by 9%. The port stock of soybean oil as on 1st Feb.,2026 reported at 1.90 lakh tons compared to 3.00 lakh tons decreased by 1.10 lakh tons of previous months. Crude Sunflower Oil import went down in first quarter (Nov’25-Jan’26) to 7.59 lakh tons compared to 8.94 lakh tons in Nov.’24-Jan.’25, down by 15%. The port stock of sunflower oil as on 1st Feb.,2026 reported at 1.85 lakh tons compared to 2.00 lakh tons decreased by 15,000 tons of previous months. The stock of edible oils as on 1st Feb.,2026 at various ports is provisionally estimated at 864,000 tons (CPO & CPKO 480,000 tons, RBD Palmolein 6,000 tons, Degummed Soybean Oil 190,000 tons, Crude Sunflower Oil 185,000 tons and Rape Oil 3,000 tons) and pipeline stock considering domestic production and consumption reported at 885,000 tons. The Total stock as on 1st Feb., 2026 reported at 1,749,000 tons compared to 1,750,000 tons as on 1st Jan., 2026 more or less same, thanks to higher import during January 2026.
