Energy Preview: WTI crude oil attempts recovery after a 3.5% slide

WTI crude oil futures are attempting recovery from a near two-week low after sliding more than 3.5% in the previous session. Markets eyed weak cues from equities and concerns over global economic growth stayed in place. The counter currently trades at $62.77 per barrel, up 0.61% on the day. Meanwhile, energy speculators increased their net long positions in the crude oil futures market, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Crude oil futures, traded by large speculators, hedge funds and retailers, totaled a net long position of 146370 contracts in the data reported through week ended 15 April, 2025. This was a weekly rise of 6775 net contracts and pushed up net longs from six month low.
